Perform at your highest level with Sustamine™

Many companies are jumping on the Sutamine™ (l-alanyl-l-glutamine) wagon but many consumers know little about it. Sutamine™ had been introduced to the industry in the early parts of 2010, with a quick action in placing the compound into supplement formulations. The real question is, what is it?

The basics of Sustamine™ is that it is an ingredient that has scientifically proved to help hydrate the body and sustain energy during exercise or exertion.* It has been said to enhance water and electrolyte absorption during hydration process, stimulate glycogen synthesis*, inhibit muscle protein breakdown*, promote muscle protein synthesis, and stimulate the immune system*.

It has been shown in studies by the Institute of Exercise Physiology and Wellness, University of Central Florida that Sustamine™ has shown a large increase in cognitive response when consuming Sustamine™ than the participants that consumed nothing and those who consumed a sports electrolyte drink, not containing Sustamine™.

What makes this compound that much better than regular L-Glutamine?

The compound Sustamine™ is a set; Dipeptides: L-Alanyl-L-Glutamine. Dipeptides are whole proteins important for providing amino acids. A dipeptide is the most efficient form of protein for absorption. Dipeptides are processed and accepted by specific transporters that are located in the gut surface. The key to the dipeptide is for the body to absorb the l-glutamine compound more effectively.

The first part of the Sustamine™ compound is l-alanine. Alanine is categorized as a non-essential amino acid, whereas glutamine is conditionally essential. Alanine is a key amino acid used for the transportation of nitrogen inside the bodies muscle structure to the liver. At the liver, the amino acid alanine is then converted to glucose. This process is called the “glucose-alanine cycle”.

Glutamine is a non-essential amino acid that holds many health benefits other than sports and recreational use. It can be used for individuals who are catabolic, malnourished, or those who are critically ill. Glutamine has shown to improve and support the bodies immune system, nitrogen balance and has shown to enhance the rate of protein synthesis.

Are there side effects of Sustamine™ use?

To date there has been NO adverse side effects reported when consuming Sustamine™ as a stand-alone product.*

As mentioned before, many brands in the supplement industry have began to use
Sustamine™ in their formulations. Some examples are USPlabs Modern BCAA+, Animal Juiced Aminos, and Betancourt Nutrition Glutamine Plus. For full nutritional panels, visit product pages to see which one is right for you and stay hydrated with Sustamine™!

Stay Jacked My Friends – Condition Properly!

Contrary to popular belief, more is not always better in regards to conditioning. Pushing yourself to exhaustion aerobically on a frequent basis is a quick way to elevate cortisol levels and lower testosterone levels.  Whether your a serious athlete or just a weekend warrior trying to maximize gainzzzz this is the last thing you need! #loveyourtestosterone

Don’t sweat it,  here are a couple simple rules to abide by.

1.) Embrace, the 80/20 principle.  What’s this you ask?  Simple, 80 % of your conditioning should be incredibly light (aerobic, continuous) and used to establish volume.  Here’s the catch though, the other 20% needs to be near maximal intensity (anaerobic, full recovery). The problem here is most people and lower level athletes train primarily in the moderate “junk” area so they never really accomplish anything.

2.). Establish a goal! Yes, this actually goes a long way in focusing your efforts.  Having no goal in regards to the strength and conditioning realm is the recipe for a disaster.

3.). Make GRADUAL progressions to this goal.  Strength and conditioning is really just imposed adaptation on the human body.  The human body is resilient and will overcome these new rigors imposed but it will not happen overnight!

4.) Acquaint yourself with a prowler.  A prowler is a sled that can be loaded with weights and pushed just about anywhere.  Prowler sprints are fantastic for increasing fitness levels.

A sample routine would look something like this.

MONDAY
– Prowler Sprint 10 x 25 yards, 2 min recovery between sprints

TUESDAY
– Light Jog 10 minutes, light enough for conversation

WEDNESDAY
– 5 x 150 yard shuttles (6 x 25 yard shuttles), 3 minute recovery

THURSDAY
– Row 10 minutes

FRIDAY
– Reverse Walking Sled Drags 200 – 300 yards

SATURDAY
– Prowler Sprint 6 x 50 yards, 3 minute recovery between sprints

SUNDAY
– Active recovery, mobility, foam rolling

Remember, Train smart, #loveyourtestosterone and stay jacked!
